Legal Dispute? You May Have Help To Pay For It!

Many of us are unfortunate enough to have a legal dispute from time to time.  This could be due to suffering a personal injury that wasn’t your fault, buying faulty goods, being sacked unfairly or hiring a poor tradesman, and so on.  You may even have someone or a company that is trying to make a claim against you. You may have tried your best to sort the matter out but have got nowhere.  The next step may be to instruct a solicitor, but the worry about the cost of legal proceedings puts you off.  How can you fund the case?

But help may be at hand, without you even knowing.  Often you will have legal expenses insurance which will pay for a solicitor to take on your case.  This cover, known as Family Legal Protection or Legal Expenses Insurance can be tagged on to a home contents insurance policy or may be available to you under your motor insurance, through your credit card and so on.  You may also have legal expenses cover if you are a member of a Trade Union or other club, body or organisation.

If you have such cover then so long as you have a reasonable case and are likely to succeed, you should have access to a solicitor to represent you, and prepare your case, free of charge.  If your case wins or loses, you do not pay your legal costs.

Your insurer may not have pointed out to you that you have legal expenses cover, but it often exists.  If you have cover, your insurer may try to insist that you do not choose your own preferred local solicitor, but use their agents. They may be located anywhere in the country however, and you may never get to see them to discuss your case, which is often not ideal.  There can be ways around this so you can get the advice you need from a solicitor you want and trust.

If you have a dispute you should contact your local solicitor.  They will listen to your problem and can look into whether you have cover for your legal costs and contact your insurer.  You will need to take in your policy schedules and discuss the facts of your case.

It may be easier and cheaper than you think to have the outcome you deserve and for justice to be done.
